Biography:

Born on August 28, 1957 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

1979 Graduated from Chelyabinsk Technical University in economics and construction management

Received a degree from the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Holds the degree of a Doctor of Economics and has authored a number of research projects.
1990 Elected as a member of the Chelyabinsk City Council of People’s Deputies.
1991-1996 Served as Deputy Governor of Chelyabinsk Oblast.
1997 Appointed as Representative Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Chelyabinsk Oblast.
1997-1998 Served as Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.
1998 Appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Government.
1998-1999 Served as First Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation.
May 1999 Appointed as First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Government.
January 10, 2000 Appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Government.
February 24-March 5, 2004 Served as Acting Chairman of the Russian Federation Government.
March 9, 2004 Appointed as Minister of Industry and Energy of the Russian Federation.

Viktor Khristenko is married with three children.
